Ontario Telehealth Network (OTN)

Our recent edition of our new Ontario Telehealth Network unit is bringing a whole new world of medicine and technology together. Patients in the past were required to travel great distances from their remote home community down as far as Toronto to be seen by specialists or for follow up appointments. Shown below is one of our OTN exam rooms.

Now with OTN, patients can travel to Moose Factory and be seen by the same medical staff over a secure video conference session for various medical consultations / follow up appointments. WGH has worked with North Network (www.northnetwork.com) to bring these services to our communities. Our long term goals and vision is to bring OTN to all of our coastal communities to aid in diagnosis and avoid unnecessary medical evacuations.

NORTH Network has facilitated the delivery of over 80 different types of clinical and professional services to patients using video conferencing. Physicians and allied health professionals have performed these services.

To date, NORTH Network has successfully adapted the video conferencing environment to accommodate every referral request for patient services from our members.
